COMMERCIAL HELICOPTER SERVICES

Mt Hutt Helicopters is a commercial helicopter operater providing a number of commercial helicopter services including.

GPS mapping Using our Satloc and Navman GPS we can accurately map areas and locations and overlay these on to topo maps.

Heavy lifting and placement work Our helicopters can lift up to half a tonne and each machine is equipped with long line and short lines as well as an array of strops to enable us to lift heavy loads, most commonly fencing materials.

Fire fighting We are fully equipped with monsoon buckets for each helicopter for fire fighting work. We have also worked along side organisations for fire crew training.

Fire lighting control Due to the ever changing wind and weather patterns in this region we are often called out on standby on controlled burn offs. It is important to remember DOC run a year-round restricted fire season so you always have to get a permit if you are burning off on your property. We know that obtaining a Farmers' fire permit can be confusing. Who do you ring about burning off in the High Country? We've done some investigation to confirm the rules. If your burn area is less than 1 kilometre from Crown riverbed, UCL or DOC boundary you must apply through DOC. If your burn area is greater than 1 kilometre from Crown riverbed, UCL or DOC boundary then you must apply through your Regional Council.

Search and rescue Mt Hutt Helicopters is a proud member of the Methven Search and Rescue group and are involved in all local searches and operations.

Concrete placement Our support equipment includes four purpose built concrete buckets, enabling us to move large amounts of concrete in a short time. Our pilots are experienced in shifting concrete and general long line work and have completed operations on the Mt Hutt Ski Area including the lift redevelopment concrete placement job.

Frost protection We have carried out successful frost protection work for vineyards within the South Island. Our pilots are experienced in this type of precision flying which requires the helicopter to be the right level over the crops to keep the air temperature above freezing to ensure the cop is not damaged.

Aerial environmental and riverbed inspections We work with a number of local government bodies including the Department of Conservation and Environment Canterbury. Regular tasks can include riverbed inspections and rain gauge checks as well as the servicing of DOC Huts and conservation land.

Avalanche control and Mt Hutt ski field support Mt Hutt Helicopters can provide services including ski patrol training, heli-bombing avalanche control, aerial support and emergency chair lift evacuation. We are also a key member of the Mt Hutt Avalanche Search Team.
