Mt Hutt Helicopters is located 10kms from the foot of Mount Hutt which is home to the Mt Hutt ski area in the Southern Alps. We are able to offer some great terrain for those who want to enjoy the exhilarating experience of heli-skiing & heli-boarding in New Zealand. We are the only operator to have a heli-pad at a commercial ski field in New Zealand allowing us to offer accessible and affordable heli-ski & heli-boarding options.

North Peak Run:
Our most popular option, the North Peak Run is a large ungroomed basin offering 800 vertical meters of heli-skiing & heli-boarding northwest of the Mt Hutt ski area. Access is by helicopter from the ski area car park at Mt Hutt and all skiing and riding is in guided parties. The North Peak Run is an ideal introduction to heli-skiing or heli-boarding at a moderate price. If you loved the first run take advantage of an additional run at $99 per person.

The Taylor Range:
Ever looked at the scoop in the mountains from Methven and said "I want to ride that" - well you can! That scoop is known as "Armchair Bowl" and is one of 50 exhilarating runs waiting for you. Nothing beats the thrill of being flown to the top of a peak to experience fresh, untracked powder. We will take you on the ultimate heli-skiing or heli-boarding trip. The terrain in the Taylor Range caters for those looking for adrenaline pumped skiing and riding in the expanse of the backcountry, it offers challenging chutes, steep valleys with breathtaking views of the Southern Alps. Average runs are 700 vertical meters with some offering up to 1000 vertical meters.

Group Size:
To ensure safety standards, group sizes are kept small. You will be grouped according to your ability and your guides will select the terrain best suited to your group.

*Note - Minimum numbers are required to run the respective products at the listed price. We can arrange for these products at a lower number; however the price will be higher.

Ability Required:

One of the biggest barriers to people trying heli-skiing is the general perception that it is difficult. We have terrain to suit almost all abilities and if you can tackle a 'blue' run or better, you can heli-ski or heli-board. The Arrowsmiths product is suitable for 'intermediate' to 'advanced' skiers and riders, or those with previous off-piste experience.

All our heliski trips are guided by the professional Alpine Guides. Alpine Guides was set up in 1967 (originally called "Alpine Instruction Ltd"), and is New Zealand's longest established mountain and ski guiding company.
